An aide to governor Alex Otti, Chaka Chukwumerije, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle.
The incident which occurred along the Okigwe–Umuahia Road left the vehicle riddled with bullets.
In a video shared online, Chaka recounted the horrific incident, how the gunmen accosted them while coming back from Umunneochi, he said they saw a car coming towards them few minutes they passed the Okigwe junction.
According to him, their vehicle slowed down to ask why they were following one-way thinking the road was blocked, the next they saw was gunmen who opened fire on their car.
He said they literally targeted the seat he was occupying as they rained bullet on the car. Although, no life was lost during the attack.
