Abia North Peace Foundation, a socio-political organization, has called for the arrest of Obasi Kalu Obasi and Onyekachi Uduma, over what it described as criminal defamation, intimidation, and other alleged unlawful activities capable of undermining peace in Ohafia, Abia State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its spokesperson, Kalu Kalu, the group said it would formally petition the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies, demanding a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the duo. The foundation also disclosed plans to pursue legal remedies, including civil action.

The group accused the Ohafia Youth Association (OYA) leadership of issuing a reckless and inflammatory statements against some government agencies, and for threatening to harm some leaders of the country.

According to the foundation, such language was not only irresponsible but capable of inciting tension and exposing the Ohafia community to unnecessary security scrutiny.

Abia North Peace Foundation said that under the watch of the current OYA leadership, social vices worsened in Ohafia, including drug abuse, open sale of hard drugs, cultism, gambling, rising cases of unwanted pregnancies, and other forms of moral decay.

The group faulted the association for what it described as a total failure to initiate or implement any meaningful youth-oriented programme to confront these challenges.

The foundation further accused the OYA leadership of abandoning community development and youth rehabilitation, choosing instead to allow themselves to be used as tools by desperate politicians to defame leaders at the national and state levels, including President Bola Tinubu, The DSS, Police, INEC, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress.

Questioning the credibility of the association’s leadership, the group asked them to publicly list any concrete achievement recorded during their tenure in areas such as youth empowerment, skills acquisition, security advocacy, or social reform.

According to the foundation, no verifiable achievement has been credited to the current leadership beyond the investigation and reported arrest of Obasi Kalu Obasi over allegations relating to the stealing of electrical cables in Ohafia and their sale to scrap buyers, a matter it noted remains under police investigation.

The Abia North Peace Foundation also called on the Abia State Police Command to investigate allegations bordering on vandalism of government property, kidnapping, theft of public utilities, attempted extortion, harassment, cyberbullying, and criminal defamation allegedly linked to the activities of the duo.

The group urged the IGP to act swiftly, stressing that no individual or association should be allowed to endanger public peace, damage community reputation, or hide under the guise of activism to engage in conduct capable of destabilizing Ohafia and the wider Abia North senatorial district.
