Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, demanding that he publicly disown a statement allegedly released by one of his aides, Paul Ibe.
Fayose warned that failure to retract the statement within the stipulated time would compel him to “spill more beans,” escalating tensions within the opposition political space and sparking fresh debate across party lines.
Recall that Fayose had on Wednesday in a statement published via his verified X account, allegedly exposed a closed door meeting discussion between ADC Chieftain, Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde.

The meeting held in Minna, Niger State was a closed door, which has only Atiku and Makinde in attendance. However, Fayose in a statement on Wednesday published what he described as what transpired between the two politicians.
He said, Atiku is 70% certain of getting the ADC ticket for 2027 Presidential election, citing non-zoning of the party’s presidential ticket as the key to Atiku obtaining the ticket.
He alleged that Governor Makinde during the meeting with Atiku agreed to join ADC on the condition that he will be handed the party’s Vice Presidential ticket, as Atiku’s running mate.
Fayose alleged that Makinde offered to make available a sum of N10bn (to be released in two tranches), as his initial contribution towards what he called “proper take-off of the ADC,” and make additional funds available when campaign begins.
He further alleged that “The Governor also assured that for the ADC primary, he will deliver the Southwest delegates and use the influence of wife, who is from Rivers State to secure delegate votes in the South-South.”

Reacting in a statement on Thursday, Atiku’s aide, Paul Ibe described Fayose’s comments as “beer parlour tales of infamy”.
“The entire publication is a shameless concoction — a tissue of lies stitched together by a serial purveyor of political gossip whose relevance survives only on controversy, distortion, and cheap propaganda,” Ibe said in a statement.
He said, “There were no negotiations over vice-presidential tickets. There were no discussions about ₦10 billion contributions. There were no zoning manipulations. There were no delegate-delivery guarantees. And there is certainly no clandestine “Dubai meeting” on any such agenda.”
Responding, Fayose said he believed that the response and statement put out by Paul Ibe was not approved by Atiku Abubakar, adding that he gave him 24 hours to disown the statement, else he will spill more beans.
“Should Atiku not publicly disown the statement within the next 48 hours, I will have no option but to spill more beans (the facilitors and executioners) of the Minna meeting, particularly what was said about Wike) and by then, I will be doing so without any atom of respect for him.”
